Admission £2.00, children free. Programme £1.00.
The Feniton History Group is putting together an exhibition of photos, memories, local and family history in the Chapel. We would love to hear from anyone who has recollections of Sidmouth Junction, as it was known, along with the Nog Inn, formerly known as the “Railway Hotel”.
On the day, alongside the displays, there will be a DVD and Video of the station, light refreshments, room raffle, lucky programme, 1st prize being a South West Train rail ticket, other prizes are a pass for Escot Gardens and a DVD.
This will be a poignant day as this will be the last event to be held in the Chapel as it to be sold on the open market. The day will close with a service taken by the Rev. Danny Beavan.
Any monies raised on the day will be shared equally with the Rev. Danny’s Baptist work in the village and The Friends of St. Andrew’s Church.

Firework Displays
A reminder to all residents. If you are intending having fireworks, other than on November 5th, we would be very grateful if you could arrange for a notice to be put in the Parish Magazine, well in time, to warn other residents. Unfortunately, pets can suffer badly from the noise from fireworks and, if warned in time, owners can take appropriate action.

Fly Infestation – Progress Report
East Devon District Council has carried out considerable investigative work on the summer fly infestation problem over the winter months. The Council has identified five possible sources of the problem within a 1 mile radius of Green Lane and all of these sites have been inspected and monitoring and control measures at these places are now in place. Owners are required to monitor their premises on a weekly basis and to respond immediately to increases in flies with suitable insecticide applications. East Devon District Council reports it is receiving full co-operation from the management at all of the sites.
In addition, East Devon District Council has issued fly monitoring traps to a number of households in the area and these will be collected on a two-weekly basis and the results recorded to identify whether a statutory nuisance exists.
It is hoped that with this monitoring policy in place, early insecticide application can be commenced and thus considerably reduce any fly infestation problem should it occur.

Tale Valley Community Theatre
Following readings of this new community play FORESIGHT in several parishes, preparations continue for the performances which will happen on the 11th, 12th and 13th of October 2007, in a marquee at Tuckmill Farm, Payhembury.
Playwright Rose Watts is continuing to develop the play in the light of discussions following the readings. The preparations will involve music workshops led by Musical Director Alan Boxer, casting workshops run by Director John Somers and chances to learn about the lighting, staging and sound requirements of this exciting new venture. We need volunteers right across the great range of activities associated with this venture – scenery makers/painters, car-park attendants, actors, instrumentalists, singers, exhibition organisers, refreshment makers, video/photography operators, marquee erectors etc.
This play sprang from a Community Theatre School, a series of workshops on different aspects of community theatre making. It is a strong example of how successful artistic activity can be created in rural settings. To make it work, we need people of all ages – no previous experience necessary.
Dates
There will be a casting workshop in Payhembury Parish Hall on Friday 20th April, 7.00 – 9.00pm and another on Friday 4th May. There will be an open meeting on Friday May 18th when you can learn about every aspect of the play – music, lighting, stage design etc. The first singing workshop will ne on Monday 14th May, 7.00pm, Payhembury Hall.
Contact
If you would like to get involved, please telephone John Somers (01884 277390), e-mail him at [ j.w.somers@ex.ac.uk ] or write to him at Pear Tree Cottage, Lower Tale, Payhembury, Honiton, EX14 3HL. Please also come to any of the events mentioned above.

CPL Petroleum would like to notify Feniton residents of a way to save money on oil-fired central heating costs.
They state:
"We would like to offer you this opportunity to arrange a local consortium in and around your area for people using heating oil. This scheme will enable us tooffer you both an excellent service and price as we are able to make one delivery on one journey to your area rather than several journeys for smaller quantities, therefor reducing the cost of delivery, enabling us to pass this saving on to yourselves.
Many of our customers presently enjoy being a member of a consortium and find the scheme straightforward to manage and easy on the purse strings.
Please discuss the idea within the Parish, if you wish to proceed with the above scheme we will require full details of the parishioners that are interested, enabling us to open an account. Once we are aware of the numbers involved a delivery date may be set along with a superb price."
Should you wish to contact them, call Kathryn Stefanovich on 01392 467989. The Council would like to remind parishioners that other fuel oil companies may operate similar schemes."
Feniton Gardens Estate - Un-adopted Sewers
At the September Parish Council meeting it was asked that a factual article be placed in the Feniton magazine to make residents aware of the un-adopted sewers problem in the Feniton Gardens estate area of the parish.
When in the late 1960s and early 1970s the Feniton Gardens estate was built, the sewers were not constructed to a standard to enable the appropriate authorities to adopt them and maintain them. This means the maintenance costs of the sewers, which include those within property boundaries and those without, are the responsibility of residents. The sewers, which are understood to be made of fibre pitch, are now getting old and are beginning to cause problems. Already this year there has been several blockages in the Coventry Close/Wells Avenue area resulting in high clearance charges for some residents.
The Parish Council has on numerous occasions raised the problem with the authorities with the aim of having maintenance costs borne by them, not by residents, but without success. The Parish Council is now embarking on another round of attempting to get something done. In the meantime it is felt that you should be aware of the situation, indeed you should have been made aware of it by your solicitor when you purchased your property. You are also urged to be careful as to the items you “flush down the loo”. The cause of the Wells Avenue blockages was excessive amounts of baby wipes and disposable nappies. Everyone needs to “take care of the sewage system”; failure to do so may well prove a costly omission.
