Minutes of Meeting held on Monday 19th October 2011

Present: - Cllr M Smith (Chairman)

Councillors Present: - Mr P Privet and Mr N Spence.

Also in attendance: - Cllr R Giles (DCC), 57 members of the public and J Masters (FPC Clerk).

112. Questions from the public: -
The Chairman invited members of the public to speak on the planning proposals before the meeting, the following objections were raised:-
Building on valuable Grate 2 farm land should not be allowed
The local Primary School is already oversubscribed
Kings School in Ottery is also at capacity
Feniton is subject to frequent flooding, any more development will just aggravate the situation
The sewage system in Feniton is at capacity and frequently over flows
The application is for Outline Permission there is no guarantee that further application won’t be put in for a higher density of housing
Some houses have been flooded a number of times since the big flood in 2008 any further development will make the situation worse.
The proposed site slopes down to Ottery Road and will contribute more to the regular flooding of Ottery Road
The extra traffic generated by this proposal will further clog our narrow roads I.e. the route to the M5 through Payhembury and to the A30 along Ottery Road combined with the HGV traffic from the industrial estate at Talewater
Ottery Road already floods regularly and additional on the hillside will make matters worse
From the plans there only seems to be parking for one car as most houses these days have two or more cars the road will be blocked for any emergency vehicles
Locally house sales are very slow so the demand for housing in Feniton is not there
Already we have many houses for rent as they aren’t being sold
The Chairman thanked everyone for their contributions.
